Hi colleagues,
Here’s the spring 2023 edition of Kairos, featuring reporting from Regina's first media study trip to Ireland, and my first post-pandemic international reporting course in Italy https://kairosmagazine.rutgers.edu/
We’re also featuring analyses of media coverage of Indigenous people’s social protests in Ecuador, and of corporate messaging about the overturning of Roe vs. Wade (both papers by Regina’s students); a short documentary about whiteness and colorism (by David L.’s independent study student); and a video profile of the Rutgers women’s ultimate Frisbee team (by Neal’s student).
And you’ll see that Kairos has a new look. Steve Anderson, a professor emeritus at (and the former director of) James Madison U’s School of Media Arts and Design, has redesigned the magazine for us, updating both its appearance and the tech specs behind the screen. It was a massive multi-year project (involving the transfer and revamping of nearly 200 articles, video and audio stories), generously funded by JMS via the always-supportive Amy and Jack.
Thank you to the members of the editorial board, of Jack, Juan, David G., David L., Regina and Todd, who chose these pieces, and guided this redesign.
And heartfelt thanks to you all, for your collective contributions and support!
