Title: Why It’s Time to Update Overtime Pay Rules
*Source*: Economic Policy Institute (EPI)
*Date:* Oct 21, 2014 Summary: Americans are working longer hours and are more productive—yet wages are largely flat http://www.epi.org/publication/why-americas-workers-need-faster-wage-growth/. Indeed, the median worker saw a real (inflation-adjusted) hourly wage increase of just 6.1 percent between 1979 and 2013, despite overall productivity growth of 64.9 percent. One reason Americans’ paychecks are not keeping pace with their productivity is that millions of lower-middle-class and even middle-class workers are working overtime and not getting paid for it.
