Title: The Workweek of Part-Time Workers Source: EconoMonitor Authors: Etienne Lale
*Date:* Nov. 15, 2015
*Summary:* *Data on weekly work schedules indicate the coexistence of two groups of part-time workers. The first group represents about 40 percent of part- time employment and comprises those who work a few hours every day of the workweek, mostly during standard business hours. The other group contains workers with either variable weekly schedules or hours concentrated on two or three days of the week, and are more likely to work at night and/or on weekends. These less desirable work conditions are worth worrying about as part-time employment in the U.S. remains elevated several years after the Great Recession.* Link: bit.ly/2124XHZ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Eugene McElroy, Library Associate James Carey Library, School of Management and Labor Relations Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey 50 Labor Center Way, New Brunswick NJ 08901 848-932-9513 smlrlibrary@work.rutgers.edu http://smlr.rutgers.edu/carey-library
