“The Outstanding Chapter Award is a testimony to the great leadership and membership within RU SHRM. It has been a remarkable year highlighted by over-the-top achievements and passion for Rutgers, our master of human resource management program, and the human resources profession. This is one of the best RU SHRM communities ever!” says Professor David Ferio.
The Outstanding Student Chapter Award is the highest award given to SHRM’s student-led groups. The award recognizes student chapters whose programs, activities, and levels of participation during the academic year distinguish them from other chapters. Of the more than 475 SHRM student chapters, only 10 were selected to receive this year’s honorable award, including RU SHRM.
"I am proud of our members and honored that our efforts are so greatly recognized. Outstanding Student Chapter was our goal at the beginning of the year and seeing it come to fruition proves that through hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you can achieve success!" says Morenike Sylla, RU SRHM’s co-president and a North Brunswick resident.
Bao Nguyen, a Marlboro resident, proudly celebrates his group’s achievement. "Bench marked, bar raised! The leadership team and I are ecstatic about the accomplishments of the Rutgers' chapter of SHRM and it continues onward every year with great momentum. It was a reward in itself to have been a part of it," says Nguyen.
Throughout the academic year, RU SHRM has spearheaded numerous student activities including résumé and dining etiquette workshops, HR career panels, multicultural events, and an annual business conference, which draws more than 200 HR professionals, students, professors, and alumni.
"The Outstanding Merit Award proves that we are a great leadership team. We went out of our way, we worked hard, and we believed in ourselves. Because of that, we achieved amazing results, and we are dedicated to continue this legacy," says Laura Panc, a Dayton resident and fellow RU SHRM member.
Jennifer Chiu, a Denville resident, is looking forward to her organization’s continued success. "I am excited to be part of the leadership team for the upcoming school year and will continue the great work that RU SHRM does for human resource management students," says Chiu.
