“A downturn in the economy is generally not good,” said Colin John Davis, a history professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Workers “tend to hunker down. They tend to be a lot more conformist at work. Obviously, they’re trying to protect themselves.” (Some people on this list may recall that Colin Davis was an Adjunct Lecture with the SMLR - Labor Studies Department here at Rutgers University between 1986 and 1990.)
