Candidates should have commitment to and experience with university teaching and be able to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in food and nutrition to support the Didactic Program in Dietetics and other major/minors in Nutritional Sciences. A demonstrated ability to establish a focused research program, secure external funding, and publish in peer-reviewed journals is required. Preferred areas of interest include obesity, diabetes, and chronic disease prevention and interventions, wellness or other areas that complement existing strengths in the department. Experience in multidisciplinary collaborations for academics and research is desired. The new faculty member will be expected to participate in graduate student research committees and other departmental, college, and university committees. found sources of nutrient deficiency public domain pictures

Hi Everyone, A while back, I asked for leads for pictures of nutrient deficiencies for a coworker. I'm happy to report two possible sources for those of you that might be able to use them in your programs. SOURCE ONE: My coworker, Kelly Fisher, RD, discovered an answer to her own question in the Public Health Image Library of the Department of Health and Human Services - Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Website at http://phil.cdc.gov Here is some information Kelly put together for me to share with you: The web-site will take you to the home page of the Public Health Image Library (PHIL) where there is an area to search for pictures, illustrations, or videos. Down at the bottom under each picture it will discuss copyright restrictions... if it says "none," they are public domain pictures and available for anyone to use (just cite the picture according to their directions)... if there are restrictions on a picture, you'll have to contact that individual or group for permission. SOURCE TWO: After getting source one to share from Kelly, I discovered a possible second source -- the image library of the National Library of Medicine of the National Institutes of Health at http://wwwihm.nlm.nih.gov/ These must be ordered (I couldn't determine from Web site if there was a charge -- however, there is a contact email address) and information about reproduction rights is cited as unknown for some. SNE MyPyramid e-Catalog Seeking Reviewers

The SNE MyPyramid e-Catalog project is looking for nutrition professionals to join its team of volunteer reviewers. The MyPyramid e-Catalog Review Team is comprised of volunteers who are educators, developers of educational materials, and practitioners engaged in a variety of nutrition-related jobs. Qualifications to be a reviewer are: * A combination of education and experience totaling five years, at least two of which are nutrition-related experience. * The educational component of the experience must be from an accredited university in a nutrition or health-related field. * Reviewers typically have experience both developing nutrition education materials and using them in the field. Volunteers who speak Spanish and other non-English languages are needed as well. info on protein supplements with teenage boys

I'm looking for a reference or advice pro or con on teenage boys and the use of protein supplements. I'm not an RD. My 14.75 year old son wants to build muscle. He's about 5'4" and thin (about 120 lb). He eats well. I'm not in favor of adding these to his diet, but need the solid argument one way or the other. He's very active. Plays football & baseball & wrestles & lifts weights. Thank you. Ideas for middle school

Hello Sneeezers, I have a colleague who wants to have middle school-aged children do a paper and pencil diet assessment-type activity (no computers). She wants to adapt it for international use. I would welcome anyone out there sending me info on anything that resembles a pre-teen or teen doing some sort of diet record, iel a self assessment, ie. daily food record, following MyPyramid, etc. Any ideas welcome.
