Nutrition Education RIS Graduate Student Research Competition
The Nutrition Education RIS will acknowledge the research of two graduate students who present at the 2009 Experimental Biology meeting in New Orleans, LA with awards of $200. Details are provided below.
· Competition is open to masters or doctoral students or recent graduates (graduation date must be after May 2008).
· Applications may include applied or theoretical nutrition education research.
· Research must have been completed after January 1, 2008.
· Research in progress will not be accepted.
· At least on abstract author must be a member of the Nutrition Education RIS
· Research must be presented at Experimental Biology in a Nutrition Education RIS oral or poster session. Attendance of the researcher is not required; however a co-author will be required to appear at the Nutrition Education RIS business meeting to accept the award for the student. An announcement will appear in Nutrition Notes. We will also work with the Society of Nutrition Education liaison to encourage announcement in an SNE publication or forum such as the listserv.
Apply by submitting an expanded abstract to Cindy Fitch, cfitch(a)mail.wvu.edu by February 27, 2009. An expanded abstract is approximately 1000 to 1500 words and includes background, research objectives, methods, results, discussion and/or implications for nutrition educators. Applications will be peer-reviewed.
