The Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach is seeking candidates
to fill an opening for a full-time AmeriCorps Community Garden Coordinator!
Family Health Center, Inc. and Marshfield Clinic Center for Community
Outreach (CCO) work to develop healthy environments that foster resilient,
successful children, youth and families. In Marshfield, CCO works in
cooperation with the Healthy Lifestyles-Marshfield Area Coalition (HLMAC).
The Coalition’s Growing Together – Community Garden committee established
garden sites in Marshfield, WI to support local food production, teach
gardening techniques, and encourage Marshfield residents to grow and eat
fresh produce. The AmeriCorps member will be housed within the Marshfield
Clinic Center for Community Outreach to enhance the existing community
garden program.
*The AmeriCorps member will serve at the Marshfield Clinic Center for
Community Outreach as a Community Garden Coordinator and will:*
• Develop health education to enhance knowledge of gardening and its
benefits
• Deliver health education to garden participants, youth, adults and
families through activities such as cooking demonstrations and taste testing
• Assist with maintaining three community garden sites with 80 garden beds
*Term of Service:* 9/1/15 - 8/31/16
*Benefits:*
• Health insurance & dental insurance –premium paid in full
• Up to $13,000 living allowance if full-term completed, approximately $500
paid every two weeks
• Childcare assistance (if qualified), up to 100% of costs
• $5,730 education award upon successful completion of the term of service
• Forbearance on qualified student loans and interest accrual payments
while serving
*Desired qualifications:*
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software and ability
to efficiently navigate the internet
• Ability to work independently
• Experience in education, nutrition, gardening, event or program planning
a plus
• Experience working with diverse populations in a community setting
